Julian smiled as a glint of anticipation flashed through his eyes. He cut a piece of meat and ate.

Several at the bar also stared in Kailen’s direction. Kailen could see different expressions on their faces as he ate. The most dominant one was shock. He was calm and quiet, as if news about him being from the light region of the universe was not currently shaking the whole empire.

This place was the region of the city where the Venzula royal family and the Venzula Royal Palace were. All the buildings here were castles. The castles were very flamboyant and opulent, radiating an aura of grandeur and tyranny. They stretched for as far as the eyes could see. Among nobility in the Venzula Empire, there were those who were extremely precious to the empire. These nobles had prestigious accomplishments. They had made grand contributions to the Venzula royal family. They were the ones who lived in these castles.

At one of the areas of this part of the city, a majestic palace that spanned a very large size could be seen. The castle itself could be considered extremely large, stretching for as far as the eyes could see. Several trees, gardens, mountains, and rivers lined its interior. The place radiated an aura of tranquility and stillness. Yet, there was this ancient feel to the place.

In one of the magnificent castles in this palace, several individuals had gathered in a large conference room. These were extremely powerful individuals of the Venzula Royal Family. At the head of the table of this meeting, someone many would be shocked to see seated at this meeting was here. A beautiful tall female elf radiating an air of quiet authority and grandeur. She was clad in elegant robes that accentuated her figure. There was a golden crown on her head.

The place was very quiet as everyone scrolled through the holographic screens before them. Everyone was reading through a piece of information that had just been disseminated across the empire. Finally, after they read through the information, they lifted up their heads to look at the empress.

"I suppose you are all done?" Her voice was calm, but dignified.

"Yes, Your Grace," everyone replied respectfully.

"What do you all think?" Empress Venzula asked.

The place was quiet for a moment until one person broke the silence and stated what they all had on their minds.

"Your Highness, this Kailen Darkhaven could be roped into the royal faction by the Crown Prince when he joins the Venzula Empire Academy. He would be a very good asset. However, if he refuses to join the royal faction, he cannot be left alive."

At the person’s words, everyone nodded. The royals of the Venzula Royal Family, and the royal families of other empires across the chaotic region of the universe, were not based on blood relations. Transcendents were roped into royal families due to their abilities, and they were made nobles, belonging to that particular royal family. This had been the system the royal families of empires across the chaotic region had used to stabilize their power. The Venzula Royal Family used this same system.

One of the best ways of making use of this system was to have the royal faction in the Venzula Empire Academy, where terrifying geniuses of the empire gathered. They had managed to use the royal faction of the Venzula Royal Family to rope in countless geniuses into the royal family. Normally, the Venzula royal family would have only attempted to rope in Kailen Darkhaven into the royal faction and would have respected his wishes if he said no to them and instead joined the academy faction.

But, Kailen Darkhaven had terrifying potential. His dazzling performance in the NGU competitions proved that. Not only that, he was the first transcendent from the light region of the universe. There was definitely something extremely special about him. The first transcendent from the edge region of the universe, Sage Ling Feng, was someone who stood at the pinnacle of the whole universe, light and edge region included, and he did not get to where he was without using others as stepping stones, and carving his legend on the bones and corpses of others.

Who could say that if Kailen Darkhaven did not join the Venzula Royal Family, and he was allowed to grow stronger, he would not do the same by eliminating the Venzula royal family and use them as stepping stones to start his legendary rise? If he could not be roped into the royal faction, he would naturally have to be eliminated. He was either valuable as an ally, or dangerous as a threat to be left alive. And threats like him when left alive became too difficult to deal with in the future, and could even spell destruction.

Also, the Venzula Royal Family had always seen the Venzula Empire Academy as a threat to their power. And the academy was well aware of how the royal family viewed them. However, the academy was valuable to the nurturing of geniuses in the empire, and the academy founder was a Rank 7 novice-stage transcendent powerhouse, of equal strength to Empress Venzula Huros. Due to this equilibrium of power, the two powers could only tolerate each other and not attack each other.

However, if someone like Kailen Darkhaven got to the side of the academy faction, he could tip the scales in the future if allowed to exist and would spell doom for the Venzula royal family. Likewise, if he joined the royal faction, the royal family would not only be able to control him and groom him to become loyal to them, he would also become a valuable asset to deal with the Venzula Empire Academy in the end.

These thoughts flashed through the minds of everyone in the room, including the empress herself.

"Well spoken," the empress replied to the words of the one who had spoken. "I suppose we all agree?"

"Yes, Your Grace," everyone in the room replied.

"Very well, let’s carry on as planned," Empress Venzula said. "If he refuses to join the royal faction in the academy, he will be eliminated."

A glint flashed through her eyes. She did not hold anything against Kailen Darkhaven. However, the situation required such measures to be taken.
