Chapter 1635 - 1201: Tearing Off the Mask (Part 2)
The adjutant introduced everyone: "This is Brigadier General Morag, this is Brigadier General Bart, and this is Brigadier General Norman... Gentlemen, it seems our goodwill has been misunderstood. Could you take care of the Gospel folks?"
The bats flying above the banquet hall immediately returned to the body of the Blood Saint of Legend. The pale-faced Morag gave a cold smile: "Apologies, perhaps it’s a cultural gap, but this is our way of greeting among the Blood Moon Legends, with no offense meant."
"That’s right," said Blood Saint Fishman Bart, exposing his sharp teeth, "Where are the legends here? We’re eager to exchange with the legends of other nations."
Norman, wearing a mask, said nothing, but his cold gaze swept across the room. Those under his gaze felt a discomfort akin to being licked by a giant snake. The seed of fear quietly planted in their hearts, even the Gospel’s protection couldn’t awaken their courage.
All three of these Blood Saints are part of the ’Ancient Coffin Legend’. The youngest, Norman, has been active for three hundred years, typically resting in coffins across the beloved church branches, performing the "Blood Origin Ceremony," absorbing the spiritual essence of believers to nourish their blood.
This is the Kingdom of Blood Moon’s advantage far beyond other nations — the Legend Mages of the Blood Moon do not die!
Common Legend Mages have a lifespan of about a hundred years. In fact, except for the two exceptions of Blood Moon and Gospel, the average lifespan of Legend Mages in other countries is slightly lower than that of Holy Sanctuary Mages. This is because Ruby Mountain is far more perilous than the Distant Realm — now the Dream Stairs — and any who wish to reach the pinnacle of magic or transcend mortal limits must participate in the bloody hunt of Ruby Mountain.
Compared to Ruby Mountain, the Distant Realm is like a retirement home. After all, Void Realm creatures might only bite you once, but losing in a legendary duel could result in other mages exhausting all efforts to erase your soul. It’s quite normal for things to be calm for twenty years in the Holy Domain, but for legends to experience soul destruction and bodily death in just three years.
In normal countries, the legends of the Holy Domain naturally transition over time, but this concept doesn’t exist in the Blood Moon. Blood Saint Moon Shadows are of the Longevity Species, meaning the Legendary Holy Domain born over a millennia ago can live to this day!
Of course, there’s a price. The active time of the Longevity Species is actually only a bit over a hundred years. After a long time, their spiritual essence declines, causing them to become extremely lethargic and mentally sluggish. A common relief method is to absorb spiritual essence during sleep, and once it’s accumulated to a certain extent, they can become active again.
Even so, the quality of the Blood Moon’s legends allows them to outclass all other countries. Their slumbering Blood Saint Moon Shadows outnumber the Gospel legends, and all of them are seasoned legends with over a century of experience, far beyond those who have been overly coddled by the Gospel!
And because their numbers are sufficient, the Blood Moon dispatches three legends at a time. Even if Morag and the other two were all lost to the Gospel, it wouldn’t be a grave loss for the Blood Moon. This is the confidence the Longevity Species brings to the Kingdom of Blood Moon!
"I have said," Hanna spoke each word without fear of the legendary’s might, "Apprehending fugitives is an internal matter of our country; we do not need guidance or assistance from other nations!"
"But we believe you do."
A near-arrogant smile appeared on Merda’s face: "Ash Heath has stepped into the Divine Domain as a powerful demigod. Even devoting him aside, at the very least, tracking his traces would require a Legendary Mage, right? We only worry that you might be short of Legend Mages and thus dispatched three legendary officers to assist. If you believe you have adequate legendary combat power, why not have them come out and exchange views with our officers?"
"As the capital, Nabistin should have several legends stationed, right? We came with sincerity, yet your nation’s legends can’t even offer us a chance to communicate?"
Were it not for the Star Cluster’s gaze, this would already be a Long Knives Night, with Nabistin awash in blood, heads rolling by the Blood Saint Moon Shadow’s hand, and the screeching of bats mingling with wolf howls in the night sky... But unfortunately, the interests of the Star Cluster supersede all, so the Blood Moon must proceed step by step, first tearing the Gospel’s facade apart, then stealing away this weak and incompetent country!
Seeing the Gospel mages showing expressions of humiliation, anger, and helplessness, Merda realized that the Blood Moon’s prediction was correct. The Legendary Mages worshipping the Gospel’s Divine Beings were not only lax in combat, but they may even be unable to leave the Underground Palace, unable to even support the Gospel’s reputation!
In other words, this vast Gospel had not a single Legendary Mage defending the country! Faced with the provocation of three legendary officers, the Gospel had not one capable mage to respond!
This was like a banquet untouched by anyone.
Whether the Gospel chose to bravely endure or evade was meaningless; Merda’s group could stay to infiltrate the country, and who could expel three legends? As long as they didn’t violate the laws of the Star Cluster, the Supreme Star wouldn’t care about the inter-nation disputes among the five countries!
Perhaps the Supreme Star also anticipates a reshuffling among the five nations? The backward and conservative forces need to be eliminated, and unsuitable political systems can only become vassals. The era of idyllic development is over, and the strongest country should claim the most resources!
"Insolence!" Hapi’s voice trembled, but he managed to muster the courage to shout loudly: "This is our Gospel, not the Blood Moon. How dare you be so impudent to the chief!"
Morag’s eyes showed a hint of mockery, but he said solemnly, "And who are you to dare interrupt our conversation!? Annoying!"
