Chapter 536: I Will Sever This Pathetic Bond
Chapter 536: I Will Sever This Pathetic Bond
(Author’s POV)
"Nothing~ .... huhh~ .... you say we are nothing? Are you that desperate to crawl into my brother’s bed?" Alaric asked, his breath laboured. The rage ignited within him like wildfire.
"Alaric, mind your words," Myra rebuked.
"Don’t claim innocence now. You are just trying to wring us, brothers, around your fingers. If you were so pure, you wouldn’t have tried to kiss Brave or even kissed me. Fine~ .... you say we are nothing. So, I will sever that fucking bond right now. I don’t want to be mated to a twisted whore like you," Alaric was consumed by anger and jealousy.
"ALARIC EVERESTS~ ...." Myra’s voice shook. His choice of words was like an invisible, yet sharp dagger, making a hole in her chest, piercing her heart. Her free hand curled in an iron grip, her knuckles turning white.
Alaric was engulfed with a suffocating feeling. For the first time in his life, he was feeling jealous of Brave, his own twin brother. With a sonorous voice, he started~ .... "I, ALARIC NOAH EVERESTS~" The moment he started, a red light covered the two of them. Myra felt her pain intensifying ".... Lycan Alpha of the Moon Shine Pack reject you, MYR~ ...." He wasn’t able to complete his severing words before that; Alex bellowed inside him, his voice carrying throttling pain, ’NOOOO~~~OOOOOOOO~~~~ ... YOU CAN’T DO THAT. SHE IS OUR MATE,’ An excruciating headache hit Alaric as he clenched his head and got on his knees.
Alex was fighting tooth and nail; he wasn’t going to let Alaric sever the bond at any cost. But Alaric wasn’t the one to back down. He, in a strangling, gravelly voice, shot back, "SHUT UP~~~~ You damn wolf .... I WILL BREAK THIS PATHETIC BOND ONCE AND FOR ALL. DON’T YOU DARE STOP ME."
’ALARIC, you are making a mistake. Don’t do anything you will regret,’ Alex warned him.
"YOU STUPID LOVESICK WOLF. I have no intention of grovelling at this woman’s feet. If you so wish to do that~ .... stop being my wolf," Alaric spat out. He overpowered his wolf and started again, "I, Alaric Noah Everests~ ...." but once again, he wasn’t able to finish his words as Myra collapsed on the floor, almost lifeless.
Alaric’s mouth remained open; he was left stunned, and only after he saw the blood trickling down her forehead did he react. Her deadly pale face, her delicately fragile stature, and her wet hair sticking to her skin made her look like a ghost.
Forgetting all his rage, hatred and all the negative emotions, he, at once, whipped her in his arms and carried her out of the bathroom, his body shaking.
Alex mumbled inside, ’The cut on her injury has opened up. And she is cold all over. We need to take her to the hospital now.’
Compared to earlier, Alaric was much level headed now. He immediately mindlinked Elio, ’Eli~ .... come to the Miracles’ house right now. And don’t come by the door~ .... come through the window in Myra’s room, quietly.’
Elio, who had just stepped foot in his room when he heard Alaric’s words, was left shell shocked. He shot question after question, ’Wh~ ... what? What do you mean, brother Al? Myra’s room? What happened to Myra? What are you doing there?’
’I’ll tell you everything when you come, and don’t utter anything about it to others. And~ ... bring your first aid supplies with you,’ with that, Alaric ended the link. He placed her on the couch and brought some clothes from her wardrobe. Without hesitation, he peeled off the drenched dress off her and carefully helped her with her pajamas. As soon as he was finished, Elio jumped inside the room.
His eyes darted around the room, and the first thing he saw was Myra lying on the couch, her eyes closed, her face pallid. Alaric was slightly hunched over her. The clumped, dampened dress hanging on his forearm.
The scene made Elio panic as he instantly strode toward his brother. Jabbing a finger at him, he questioned, his greenish blue eyes turned two shades darker, "GET AWAY FROM HER."
He quickly shifted his attention to Myra and uttered, seething, "What have you done to her?" She was reeking of Alaric’s sandalwood scent.
Alaric gulped with a guilty conscience. Clenching his fists, he said, his voice hoarse, "Check up on her first. We will talk later."
Elio didn’t waste any more time. He meticulously cleaned her wound and changed her bandage. It wasn’t too deep. He checked her temperature and pupils as well. She was running a fever. Her blanched face was making his heart ache, but he didn’t stop until he finished his job.
When he was done, he pulled an unconscious Myra into his arms and carried her bridal style, laying her in her bed. After securing the duvet on her, he looked back at Alaric, who had been quiet all along the process.
"Brother Al, how did this happen?" he questioned once again.
Alaric’s eyes flickered. How can he tell Elio the truth? That he barged into Myra’s room, pinned her and kissed her. Or that the fact they were mates, and she was hitting on Brave, trying to kiss him. Or that he was about to reject her as his fated? Thinking all of this, he was overcome with shame and guilt. He couldn’t admit it. He took a deep breath and decided to hide all of this for now. Instead, he said, "When I came to her room, she was inside the bathroom. I called for her, but she didn’t reply. So, I entered the bathroom and found her lying in the shower." He gritted his teeth. He never thought that one day, he would lie about something like this in front of his younger brother.
Elio’s eyes narrowed at his words. He then asked, "But what are you doing in her room at this hour? Weren’t you attending a meeting?" He knew Alaric wasn’t quite fond of Myra because she was a human. So he couldn’t understand why Alaric was in Myra’s room.
"I~ ...." Alaric mumbled. "I was here to~ ...." He started but was interrupted by a soft whispering voice of Myra, "I~ ... called him."
