Chapter 85: A Ticket Out Of Here?
Chapter 85: A Ticket Out Of Here?
Bella and Rachel entered once again but this time, they were a lot more careful.
The chaotic state of the camp made it easy for them to sneak in but the ladies had covered themselves from head to toe with the guts of the zombies.
This made them imperceivable to the zombies and allowed them to sneak through them.
The gunfire had subsided, this either meant that the men had been killed or they were waiting out the night, the latter seemed more plausible.
It was suicide fighting zombies in darkness and they realized that soon enough because, with everyone that died, the zombies gained another soldier.
There was no winning, Bella and Rachel soon heard gunshots nearby, it came from a building.
They didn’t think much of it but they knew they needed to stay away from that building.
"Where is the car?" Rachel asked and Bella pointed ahead.
She saw nothing but darkness and realized that she needed to make Bella walk in front of her.
She didn’t trust Bella and the benefit of the doubt that she had given her didn’t override her common sense.
"We need to get to the car and get the hell out of here!" Bella exclaimed.
"Get the hell out? Do you plan to leave the others?" Rachel asked Bella.
Bella kept quiet and she soon felt the gun pressed against her back, Rachel knew that she couldn’t mess this up.
This might be their only way out and Bella was very sneaky, she didn’t know what was going through her head.
"I didn’t mean it that way but I understand why you have your gun out. I should have been a lot more careful with my words," Bella said with a sigh.
They kept walking and walking, it felt endless; the more they walked, the more Rachel doubted her.
Bella reached into her pocket and heard the gun click behind her, Rachel was going to pull the trigger if she did anything funny.
"Relax, I’m bringing out the car keys," Bella said and she brought out the very thing that Liam had before he died. He had given it to her and allowed her to get away but before she could get to the car, he was killed by Lorenzo and the alarm sounded.
This made it impossible for her to move as she pleased, she was trapped and needed help, and this was part of the reason she returned to Clementine and Rachel.
Bella was always going to put herself first but she was growing curious as to why Clementine and Sam were going so far for someone that they had only met in the apocalypse.
Out of the item, she removed the car keys that were hidden between dud files before tossing them.
Rachel soon stopped in her tracks alongside Bella the moment they realized it wasn’t just walkers that were there, they saw dogs close to where Bella’s supposed car was.
The dogs were eating something, they didn’t know who or what but the corpse’s head was missing.
"Don’t move..." Rachel said; she experienced just how strong these dogs were and knew that running would guarantee they died.
There were five in number but they also saw something strange, they looked around to see that these weren’t the only thing that they had to worry about.
Bella recognized a different species of zombie and that was the one that she and Jason had to run from, it was the same one that had attacked the motel.
It wasn’t just one this time, it was three from what she could see.
"Fuck! This is bad!" Rachel cussed out and began to tiptoe backwards.
They had no idea why these zombies were saturated here considering that noises still echoed in different places, they should naturally be drawn there but this body might mean that someone discovered the car.
If that was the case, it was a good thing that these zombies were here, the car was covered in old rags but it was partially removed revealing the trunk.
At least Rachel confirmed Bella wasn’t lying, there was a way out of there but now they needed to survive.
Rachel’s attention was soon broken, a loud crunching sound emanated beneath her feet, Bella and Rachel soon looked down in horror.
The zombies immediately jerked their heads in their direction.
"Run!" This was all Rachel said and both ladies ran in opposite directions but with this, the dogs gave chase.
-
Sam looked at Clementine with disgust, Jason was glad that she saw things through his lens otherwise this could go very bad.
Jason knew that this man must play a crucial part in his survival or Chronos wouldn’t have freed him if he didn’t.
Jason learned one thing from the system and that was whatever Chronos did ultimately favoured him, Chronos was a machine and lacked empathy so it didn’t necessarily feel the repercussions of its decision, this included killing that child.
Jason didn’t understand but that boy must have been a threat to him or Chronos somehow as it made no sense for Chronos to single him out.
"Thank you, Clementine," Jason muttered weakly, his wounds were sealed but he had lost a lot of blood but he should be fine with a night’s rest.
However, there was no way that Jason could sleep here, tzombies should roam the roads but once the sun is out, they’re as good as dead.
The only reason they had managed to stay alive was because the darkness shrouded them but if the enemies saw them in broad daylight? There was no escaping.
Amid the commotion, a loud gunshot echoed and everyone’s attention was drawn to it.
It didn’t come from Sam’s gun.
Blood dripped to the ground, and Jason’s eyes widened the moment he realized what had happened.
"What the fuck?" Jason cussed out, trying to take in the sight before him.
"Damn, you got me... You sneaky son of a bitch," Sam muttered; placing his hand on his torso before looking at it, it was blood.
Sam pointed his gun at Lorenzo but another shot went off, dropping Sam to the ground.
"SSSAAAAMMMM!"
